Somedays

I want insulin.
I want to go back to my pump for good.
I'm tired of meds with more side effects then I sometimes think they're worth.
And I'm tired of doctors.
And my stupid body not doing what it should.

Somedays I think I understood it better before I had islets.

Somedays, I get frustrated
with everything.
Somedays I want to go back to the way things were before,
It was difficult, but it was familiar.

Somedays, I want to scream
And I feel sorry for me.

Today's a someday.
*sigh*

If you stopped taking antirejection meds and your body rejected the islets, would that do anything other than give you the diabetes back?
That is to say, would it make you sick if you went off the antirejection meds but started on insulin?

Just wondering.

It wouldn't do anything other then return me to being insulin dependent as far as my general health is concerned. Having had a transplant with a graft that was rejected makes it more difficult to do a tissue type for another transplant if say, a kidney or other transplant is needed later. I've also been told that it can make it more difficult to control blood sugars afterwords for some reason. I'm not sure why. They did say that even if you end up back on insulin its better to keep taking the anti rejection meds and keep some functioning of the islets you have because it gives you better control then having no functioning islets. so, I'll keep on keeping on...
