Once Again

One more family member bites the dust.

My aunt died Monday. She was 92. She raised my father so she was a grandmother type figure to me. As kids my siblings and I spent weeks at her place every summer. We saw my aunt and uncle at every holiday, got letters and cards at birthdays and anniversaries. She was my model for being a good aunt to my nieces and nephews. And I was crap and haven't seen her in a couple of years, mostly because it wasn't convenient. How shitty is that?

Aunts and grandparents get old. kids grow up, life moves on and I know she would have understood that, just like I understand why I don't very often see my nieces and nephews that are grown.

But still, you know how is goes

but I didn't...

No School For Me

Why? Because I'm an idiot and went on vacation and didn't register for classes on time. Oh well, I figure its a good time to get some volunteering done which I've been wanting to do anyway and I'm hoping to go to Alaska for work in October to help set up a new store.

Why? Because Alaska in October just sound balmy and well, like the perfect time of year to go! ;)

Wool socks anyone?

Random Entertainment For The Week 8/22

Last week on Friday we were in Grand Haven, Mi. I love it there. The beaches are beautiful. You can camp on the beach, next to the water, light house, pier and it's within walking distance of downtown Grand Haven. The town is quaint. There are shops and bars and nasty (but you know you need one) corn dog types things called Pronto Pups. And Fricano's Pizza Tavern has the best pizza ever. mmmm. did I mention that I really like it there? We go every year, spend way too much money, freeze our butts off swimming in the lake, get sand in our undies and watch the musical fountain and laugh. Laugh at the fountain I mean, cause I mean, the whole fountain experience is kinda weird.

Grand Haven's Musical Fountain was built in the 60's. It's across the channel where the Grand River meets Lake Michigan and it's on top of a sand dune which means it's, well, windy there. Not so good for fountains cause the water sprays and it ends up being the musical lighted spraying mist. People love it. I don't get it. I love it because I think its funny, cheesy shit, and everyone should go see it. Its one the not-so-wonders of the world where you just sit there are look around at the people clapping and think, Uhhh? wha?? this is it??? The general public can download the software and program it. One of these day's I'm going to put it to "Is that all there is?" by Peggy Lee cause that's what I think every year when we go see it. And yet we always go back for more. ;)

Some day thousands of years from now archaeologists will find its remains and find the bleachers across the channel and think the natives worshiped it. Wish I could be there.

Any way, here it is in all of its misty glory.

btw. the lights going across the screen in front of the fountain aren't cars, they're boats going up the channel. That part I like, watching the boats go by...

We're going to the beach on Wednesday. We go every year for Moe's birthday. The beaches of West Michigan are awesome. Michigan has many state parks on Lake Michigan. We'll be at one Wednesday through Friday. I can't wait. Tents, campfires, half nakid people in bikinis and speedos, sand in my undies, ice cream, nasty food cooked on the boardwalk that I know my doctors would never approve of but I'm going to eat anyway, and a glorious glorious lack of sunscreen. *sigh* good times. I can't wait for the burn. I've already packed my aloe and mosquito repellent.

I'm taking the camera and if I don't have a chance to post before we leave on Wednesday have a great week and I'll throw up a photo or two Friday night when I'm home.

Meanwhile look for me on the Lake Michigan Cam.

Mouth Ulcers and Ukuleles. Yay!

This has to be my favorite video on YouTube. Seriously, dude, I've watched it about 100 times cause 1. I love the ukulele and 2. I like the song and 3. it makes me happy to hear songs I like repeatedly.

I have 8 mouth ulcers today. five (yes count them five) on the inside of my lower lip. They hurt like hell and I'm whiny so tonight I'm doing my favorite thing to do when I"m whiny and that is shove my musical tastes in other people faces and force thme to listen to it too. I've harassed Moe enough today with my Zune and, You're next.

So, here listen! *shove*shove*

Oh yeah, and check out her YouTube and MySpace places too. She coooo baby shine.

Stupid Islets

Today for some ungodly reason my islets went on strike and my bs is 210. Ratbastards get to work! Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.

The Diabetes Rap

The only explanation I can give for some of the videos I post is "You watch TV, I watch YouTube".

Once again, I prove myself to be a dork.

I heart Foamy the Squirrel.

This was me and Moe this morning. Me wanting coffee and her wanting to not stop for sustenance and caffine elixirs.

Taste My Squirrely Wrath!!
