Isn't it sad that I remembered that Mr. Hypo was published courtesy of Ames Company's Miles Laboratories Division of Elkhardt, Indiana (perhaps best known for Alka-Seltzer) which was acquired by Bayer AG of Germany in the late 1970's anyway. Still, the crash commercialism was really meant to position Clintest products as "friends" (remember, home blood glucose testing would not emerge for another 10+ years) to diabetic children. Today, we see similar efforts, but at least there are books published by well-meaning authors and publishing companies which are free from such overt commercialism.
